Faru Foundation is the home of high-performance young talents in Tanzania. Based in Temeke, Dar es Salaam, the foundation is ready to support the next superstars sporting journey. From Volleyball to Netball to Handball to Dodgeball, we’ve got everything young sportsmen and women need to succeed. Our mission is to enable young athletes to reach their potential in sports and life.
We are very passionate about providing the best possible learning opportunities and experiences for all young players irrespective of their strengths, challenges, or needs. We continually strive to provide an inclusive, enabling, and safe environment which empowers all our players to try their best and achieve beyond expectations. We work with partners across the country to conduct, encourage, promote, advance, and administer all forms of the sport of volleyball in and throughout Tanzania. Also, we partner with professional teams across the world to help further our mission.

FARU TOURNAMENT
An annual competition run by Faru Foundation in partnership with stakeholders and sponsors. The tournament brings together around 20 male and ten women teams from both national and international levels. In 2021, the games took place in Saba Saba from 6th to 8th November, with Magereza Team winning in the women category and Jeshi Stars taking home a trophy for male teams. The next tournament is set from 26th – 29th August 2022.
FARU ACADEMY
The academy is dedicated to developing the potential of boys and girls both on and off-field. The foundation has recruited teachers/coaches who are competent to teach children from 8-18 years at a grass-roots level. The foundation has also procured a 10-acre plot in Dodoma, Tanzania, to build a state-of-the-art sports training facility. We incorporate physical activity with emotional, social, and mental growth to enhance every athlete’s skill set.

OUR FOUNDER, CHAIRMAN & COACH

Mr. Nasoro Amani Sharifu is our visionary founder, Chairperson and Head Coach whose current coaching level is International Level Two. With his Bachelor’s degree in Arts (Social Protection) and experience as a volleyball coach, Nasoro is positioned and equipped to spearhead the vision of the Foundation.
Nasoro received extensive training and certifications such as Sports Management in 2012, National Referee Volleyball in 2013, and International Level One Coaching 2013. Also, he received Talents Identification Course in 2014, National Instructors Course in 2020, International Level two Coaching 2017, and a High-Performance Course in 2019.
In terms of experience, Nasoro was an Assistant Coach Jeshi Stars (2014 – 2016), Head Coach Faru 2017, Head Coach Jeshi Stars (2018 – Present), and Tanzania Volleyball National Team’s current head coach. Nasoro has won several titles such as a National club championship (2016, 2018), Nyerere Cup International (2017), Muungano Cup (2016), Africa Zone Five, 4th Position (2018), and East Africa Military Games, 2nd Runners up (2017).
